What Does a Person’s Skin Say About Them?
## Itching
Usually occurs due to dermatological problems such as allergies, scabies mites, various eczemas and dermatitis. It is quite easy to treat if you see a doctor in time. You should be concerned about itching without external changes to the skin. It often accompanies liver disease, endocrine disorders, and in some people it occurs as a reaction to stress.
## Warts and papillomas
Isolated warts on the skin are usually benign, and it is sufficient to have your dermatologist simply remove them. But if they occur again and again, it makes sense to diagnose moles and take a blood test for cancer markers.
## Vascular reticulation
Can be both a symptom of high blood pressure and ===liver problems, especially if the blood vessels are red on the nose and cheeks. Another cause may be couperose or rosacea — a pathology of small blood vessels that is treated symptomatically.
## Pimples
Outside of puberty, pimples usually signal hormonal failure as well as disorders of the intestine, liver and pancreas. Constant appearance of pimples in the same area such as only on the forehead or only on the chin should be particularly alarming.
## Flaking
Excessive dryness of the top layer of skin with formation of scales may indicate a decrease in thyroid function. Additional symptoms may include pallor, thinning of the skin and a low temperature (the skin feels slightly cool to the touch, even if it is warm enough indoors or outdoors).
## Fats
Small or large non-obvious seals under the skin can occur due to sebaceous gland malfunctions or be a symptom of lung, liver, or endocrine system abnormalities. Fatty lesions should not be removed on your own — only by your doctor in a medical setting! This is necessary for the doctor to make a histology and exclude the development of multiple lipomas — benign tumors that need to be removed.
## Vitiligo
In most cases, it is a hereditary genetic disease that has no treatment, but also does not carry dangerous consequences. But if vitiligo develops suddenly in adulthood, it may indicate the development of Hashimoto's disease (autoimmune thyroiditis), which is a serious endocrine disease.
## Redness along the veins
One of the striking symptoms of thrombophlebitis is the appearance of redness in places where veins protrude through the skin. A local increase in temperature and a feeling of heaviness and swelling in the place of redness are typical. In a bad case, these symptoms may signal the formation of a blood clot.
## Thickening
Some areas of skin feel denser, although they do not cause discomfort, do not hurt or itch, or are not inflamed. However, this is an alarming symptom as such changes are characteristic of elevated cholesterol levels and the development of atherosclerosis.
Anyway, any changes and unpleasant skin sensations are a reason to visit a dermatologist. Do not take analgesics, antihistamines or ointments on your own. It will not only be of no benefit but can also greatly distort the picture and complicate the diagnosis.
