Skin Rashes: What’s the Cause?
## Hormonal imbalance and endocrine diseases
Acne is often triggered by an excess in testosterone levels. With this increase, the amount of sebum increases, its composition changes and it becomes viscous and dense. This creates excellent conditions for the propagation of the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The waste substances of these bacteria cause inflammation.
Among endocrine diseases, acne is most often found ===in polycystic ovary syndrome, as well as in some diseases of the adrenal glands, which are also accompanied by an excess in testosterone production.
Among dermatologists and endocrinologists, you may hear the term "hormonal acne". This can be triggered by certain conditions associated with a sharp change in hormonal status — for example, during pregnancy or before menstruation.
## Demodex mite
The inhabitants of our skin can be another common cause of acne. These are tiny mites called Demodex. Everyone has these microorganisms, but with various factors, i.e. a decrease in immunity, they wake up and begin to function actively. Most often, these mites provoke the formation of acne in the nose, above the upper lip, and on the chin.
> An adult mite can be up to 0.4 mm in size. It has a translucent elongated body and 8 legs. Demodex can move under the skin at a speed of up to 6.3 in per hour. It usually travels at night, as it’s afraid of the light.
## Gastrointestinal problems
The localization of acne on the face can often indicate which body systems are affected and need treatment. For example, acne in the forehead is most often associated with gastrointestinal problems (gastritis, dysbiosis, a tendency to constipation).
## How to prevent acne
As we can see, the causes of acne lie deep inside the body, which means that it can’t be defeated using only external treatments such as creams, foams, and gels. Also, make sure you don’t do any of the following if you wish to avoid aggravation.
__Frequent washing__ dries out the skin, which ends up creating even more oil to restore the protective barrier.
__The positive effect of ultraviolet radiation__ on the skin is also nothing more than an illusion. Rashes simply become less visible on tanned skin, but then appear in even greater amounts than before. High doses of ultraviolet light weaken the immune system, increasing the production of sebum and impairing the sloughing of the stratum corneum in the ducts of the sebaceous glands. So don’t forget to use sunscreen to prevent this!
__Never pop your pimples!__ Popping them is the cause of new acne. During this process, you can accidentally infect the area with a further infection that gets into the deep layers of the skin and infects new, not yet inflamed elements. The most dangerous area on the face is the nasolabial triangle. By squeezing pimples in this area, you can get deadly blood poisoning, considering that this area is very actively supplied with blood and the infection can enter the blood vessels and reach the brain.
## What should you do if you have acne?
Visiting a dermatologist and cosmetologist is not enough to find a solution. It is necessary to consult an endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, gynecologist, and do a series of laboratory tests that Ornament will store and analyze for you.
Take a comprehensive approach to the problem!
