8 Reasons To Eat Fish
## Fish periodic table
Almost all sea fish and seafood contain a large number of vitamins: [Vitamin E](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=66), [Vitamin D](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=187) and [Vitamin A](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=85), many others like [Vitamin C](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=50), [Vitamin B3](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=184).
The presence in fish of fatty polyunsaturated acids, specifically eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic, is important for the cardiovascular system of the body. These acids increase the body's resistance to infections, help fight inflammation, and reduce the risk of heart diseases.
Taurine, which is also found in sea fish and seafood, is essential for blood sugar regulation and is essentially an insulin inhibitor. Besides, taurine takes part in the normalization of blood pressure and helps prevent hypertension. Taurine is mostly found in squid, shrimp, sea bass, and cod.
Crabs and shrimps ===contain both polyunsaturated fatty acids and trace elements including [Iodine](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=12), [Phosphorus](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=61), [Zinc](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=216), [Potassium](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=180), [Selenium](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=100), [Iron](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=140), [Magnesium](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=27), [Calcium](https://ul.orna.me/KOge/librarybiomarker?id=127).
Squids are in many ways superior to poultry and beef when it comes to nutrients. They have an increased content of vitamins C, E, PP, group B, and iron, which improves the production of gastric juice, increases appetite, and normalizes intestinal functions. There is evidence that squid has an anti-sclerotic effect. And thanks to the content of selenium and vitamin E, squid stimulates the elimination of heavy metal salts and excess fluid from the body.
Seaweed (kelp) is rich in vitamins PP and B6, which moisturize and tone the skin, strengthen nails and hair roots. The ascorbic acid in kelp helps strengthen the immune system. Due to the high iodine content, seaweed can help prevent thyroid diseases. It also contains a lot of vitamin B12.
Oysters contain thiamine, which increases efficiency, and iodine, which has a positive effect on the thyroid gland, stimulates intellectual activity, and improves the absorption of proteins.
Mussels in their nutritional properties are not inferior to oysters. However, they are cheaper and have fewer calories. Only 100g of mussels contains a quarter of the daily value of vitamin E, which has antioxidant properties, maintains the integrity of cell walls, and neutralizes the action of free radicals.
## Considerations to keep in mind
Despite all the beneficial properties of fish, it also has downsides that should be taken into account:
- Fish is a strong allergen, even when heated and cooked.
- Even farmed fish can contain hormonal compounds, antibiotics, and dyes that are used to make it look more appealing.
- Fish may contain toxins of a technogenic nature that enter the water as a result of human industrial activities.
- Parasites are dangerous when eating raw fish as well as fish that have not undergone sufficient heat treatment. Parasites can also live in pickled, salted, dried, and smoked fish. They are more common in freshwater fish, and rarely in seafood.
