## Yellowness Hepatitis A is called jaundice for a reason: its striking symptom is a yellowing of the skin, the whites of the eyes, the nails, and the mucous membranes. In rare cases, it may be associated with chronic stress. ## Spots Pigment spots can appear on their own with age and with excessive exposure to the sun without protection. But if both of these factors are absent, pigmentation can be a sign of adrenal dysfunction. Dark circles under the eyes signal problems with the kidneys, especially if accompanied by general edema. Red spots on the feet and palms are caused by liver dysfunction.
