How to Properly Use Contact Lenses
## What are contact lenses?
Contact lenses are categorized according to their wearing time. There are variants designed for six months, several months, weeks and daily. The most popular are lenses with a term of use of 1 month, which is the optimum balance between comfort, safety and price. Some lenses can be used for no more than 12 hours in a row, while others can be used for a month.
## Are there any disadvantages?
- The need to buy new ones in a timely manner
- Easier to lose
- The need for ===special care products
- The need to learn how to properly put on and take off
- The time required to get used to them
- The fact they can’t be used by those with eye inflammatory diseases, tears or allergies
## How do you know if the lenses are right for you?
With proper fitting lenses there should be no discomfort, except for a period of getting used to them. If you wear the lenses for more than a week and they bother you, you should probably choose another manufacturer or another lens material. In exceptional cases, there are allergic reactions and intolerance due to hypersensitivity of the cornea. In this case, the only solution is to return to glasses.
## Is it worth enduring the discomfort?
Absolutely not. If you don't feel comfortable wearing lenses, you should see an ophthalmologist. If you don’t, you may develop corneal hypoxia, keratoconjunctivitis, corneal deformation, visual acuity reduction and even vision loss.
## Where do the problems come from?
Contact lenses have a lot of advantages: they do not interfere, do not glare, do not limit the field of vision, and allow you to cope even with complex astigmatism. But if you choose and use them incorrectly, complications can arise and negate all the advantages.
The most common complaint is the feeling of dry eyes, threading and eye redness. In the vast majority of cases, this is solved by replacing the cheap lens storage solution with a composition with hyaluronic acid, using moisturizing eye drops and abandoning long wear lenses in favor of daily lenses.
Eye drops should be carried by anyone who wears lenses for more than eight hours in a row, works at a computer, outside in dusty conditions, or in bright sunlight. It is usually recommended to apply them as needed, but at least three times a day.
